Description

Poplar Creek Public Library reopened to the public on 6/22/2020 with guidelines to protect patrons and staff during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. For most months of the pandemic, patrons and presenters have been required to wear masks (if possible), and audience seats have often been spaced out. Some events have been streamed on Facebook. More event photos can be found on the library's Flickr page.

Photograph 1: A socially distanced event held in Meeting Room 1 of Poplar Creek Public Library on August 19th, 2020. This particular event was Gardener's Corner: Biomimicry: Looking to Nature to Solve Today's Problems, sponsored by the Tri-Village Garden Club and Poplar Creek Public Library.

Photograph 2: A socially distanced event held in Meeting Room 1 of Poplar Creek Public Library on September 20th, 2020. This particular event was Family Concert Series: Sueños Latin-Jazz Quintet, sponsored by Walmart Community Grants and Poplar Creek Public Library.

Photograph 3: The Nomad String Quartet performed in Meeting Room 1 of Poplar Creek Public Library on November 15th, 2020 for the Family Concert Series. This photograph shows PCPLD employees working hard to broadcast the performance live for anyone to stream. There was also a limited in-person, socially distanced audience.

Photograph 4: The Elgin Symphony Orchestra performed "Peter and the Wolf" in Meeting Room 1 of Poplar Creek Public Library on March 21st, 2021 for the Family Concert Series. This photograph shows a member of the orchestra on stage wearing a mask while playing. There was a limited in-person, socially distanced audience, along with a way to virtually view the event.

Photograph 5: The Xochitl-Quetzal Danza Azteca dance group performed in Meeting Room 1 of Poplar Creek Public Library on September 19th, 2021 for the Family Concert Series. The group's performanced honored the heritage of the tradition of La Danza De Los Concheros. Some group members wore masks as they performed, and masks were required for the audience. There was also a way to virtually view the event.
